If you’ve spent much time exploring the mountains around Table Rock, Caesars Head, or Lake Jocassee, you’ve probably discovered that some of the region’s best adventures are found just across the state line in North Carolina.

One of the most unique is Bridal Veil Falls near Highlands.

Unlike most waterfalls that require a hike, Bridal Veil Falls is located directly beside the road. Visitors can park, walk a few steps, and stand beneath the overhanging rock ledge as water spills down from above.

What makes the waterfall especially memorable is that the road once passed directly behind the falls, allowing motorists to literally drive underneath the cascading water. While vehicles are no longer permitted on that section of road, visitors can still walk behind the waterfall and experience this unusual perspective for themselves.

Standing beneath the rock overhang, surrounded by cool mountain mist and towering cliffs, it’s easy to see why Bridal Veil Falls has become one of the most photographed waterfalls in western North Carolina.
