Looking for a classic small-town Fourth of July celebration? Six Mile hosts one of Pickens County’s most family-friendly Independence Day events, complete with hometown charm and activities for all ages.
The celebration features a patriotic parade, a community bike parade, family games, local vendors, food, and live entertainment throughout the day. As night falls, the festivities conclude with a spectacular drone light show, offering a modern, quieter alternative to traditional fireworks that is both family and pet friendly.

📍 Location: Lake Hartwell at the Clemson Dikes / Highway 93
One of the Upstate’s most popular Independence Day traditions returns as Clemson University and the City of Clemson present Light the Lake. The fireworks are launched over Lake Hartwell, creating spectacular reflections on the water that can be enjoyed from the Clemson Dikes, nearby shorelines, or by boat.
Know Before You Go
- 🚗 Staffed public parking is available in Lot 3A near Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
- 🚧 Highway 93 closes about one hour before the show, so arrive early.
- 🚌 CATbus operates regular routes.
- 🚤 Boats are welcome on the lake, but no beaching is permitted at the Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex or within the fireworks launch zone.
- 🚫 No alcohol is permitted at the Clemson Dikes viewing area.
PumpkintownSC Tip: If you’re planning to watch from land, arrive by 7:30–8:00 p.m. Parking fills quickly, and traffic becomes very congested as the show approaches. If you’re watching from the water, be sure your navigation lights are working before heading back after dark.
